Apple for the Teacher - Back to School

When I was out at Staples one day I saw these cute Apple Post-It note holders and immediately thought they would be great for the teachers.  Luckily a few weeks later I saw them on sale in the weekly flyer and knew that I had to get a few as back to school gifts.  I found a cute back to school graphic that I printed and put on the card sticking out of the apple and then added their names cut from vinyl.  It was a fun for the kids to take "an apple" to the teacher for back to school.

To finish it off I stamped plain wrapping paper with some cute school images and wrapped them with some red and green twine, topped with a note tag.

Summertime Happiness

I wanted to make a side step card with a summer theme.  SVG Attic had some great summertime sets so I could mix and match to come up with something that was perfect for a New England summertime scene.

Thank You to the Teachers

So here it is "back to school" and I'm just getting around to posting gifts that I did for the end of last year!.   My youngest son had so many teachers so I had to try and find gifts that I could do quick but wanted them to still be personal.  I had seen these great clocks on Attempting Aloha and thought they would great.  Here is what I came up with for his teachers.

I had also done some cups using outdoor vinyl.  Since these were my first try  I hope they hold up after cleaning.  It's hard to see the names on the sides since I filled them with the pink grass and a gift card.

I also did some cards and hand sanitizer boxes using teacher subway art from Today's Fabulous Finds.  She has a lot of different designs for many different occasions....they really are great!  So if you're looking for something to pull together quickly, it's worth looking at the different designs/colors she has!

Cute as a Cupcake

I've been seeing so many cute posts with cupcakes and decided I would see what I could come up with for a birthday gift.  I had picked up this pink tee and cute iron-on with the cupcake so that was my starting point.  To keep with the cupcake theme I created a card and bag to go with it....but why stop there! I had seen someone create a cute tea light cake and decided to give it try.  I thought it was the perfect addition!

Take me out to the ball game...

My husband coached the little league baseball team again this year but this year it was decided that we would not do trophies.  Since the kids had a great season he wanted to do something special for each of the kids.  This is what we came up with.  He found these cute popcorn boxes at KMart which we filled with a box of Cracker Jacks, a baseball marshmallow pop, and a personalized baseball with a cute saying for each of the kids.  I know it's not a trophy but I think they came out pretty cute.

The Wheels on the Bus

I'm finally getting a chance to post a gift that I made for my sons bus driver.  He's been taking the bus since he turned 3 so we were thrilled to have a bus driver that we not only felt our son was safe with but that truly loved the kids and worked with us to make special arrangements for pick ups and drop offs.  I decided to make a special bucket filled with goodies that made up a "bus drivers survival kit".

Club Penguin Puffle Shirts

We have been searching for shirts to buy but haven't had any luck.  Since the boys really like the Puffles I figured I would try make my own shirts.  I think they came out pretty good for my first time using real  T-Shirt Vinyl. It seemed harder than I expected so I have a feeling I may not have been doing it totally right.  I guess this is one of those times when I probably should have read the directions!

Easter Goodies

So the Mario Brother's craze continues on.  It seems to be the big thing with a lot of kids right now so I figured I would do a little something to hold Mario Kart racers that I got for my friends kids.

In return, she made these cute string eggs for my kids with the Mario Kart racers inside.

I had also seen these adorable bunny pops on The Mother Huddle and just had to make some!  Of course I was doing them after midnight so I never got to add the bows but still thought they came out really cute.

You know what happens when you put a boy and girl bunny together.......

You get lots of bunnies!!

A different twist to a great idea

A couple months back Dts Art was nice enough to share on her Take Out Tuesday a great Treat Box Card.  I loved the idea but wanted to add a little bit more to the design so off I went to see what I could create with MTC.  As you can see....I love the endless possibilities that MTC offers....such a great program!  I took her basic design idea but added slots to tie on some accent ribbons and added a window.

After I created the box I didn't know what I was going to put in it since I had added the window!  I made this around Valentine's Day so I dropped in a few heart shaped candies for this one.  In the future I was thinking that it would be a great way to give some hand crafted jewelry if I make a card to insert into the box to display the items.

Surprise!

Nothing like a box with a little surprise inside.  There are lots of variations of these floating around so I figured I would use MTC to make a template and see what I could come up with.

I made this first one based on one I had seen posted but struggled with making the cake tiers without gaps.

I guess it still came out okay but I need to try and find a solution to the gaps.

Next I thought it would be cute to do one with a castle for my friends son who was having a "knight" themed party.

Of course I had to add him to the castle dressed in a suit of armor!

Catching Up.....

So it has been a lot harder to keep up with the blogging than I anticipated.  I figured I needed to spend a little time trying to "catch up" on some of the things that I've done.  I figured I would go back to St. Patrick's Day.  I wanted to do something for my son to take to his classmates so I pulled together these pencils since they can't bring any food into the classroom.

I also wanted to try and create a little something for my friends.  I had seen these great little hand sanitizers when I was out one day and remembered seeing them around Christmas done by Just because I love to play so I thought I would try to create a template in MTC.  I also found the cute subway art at eighteen 25.  Here is what I came up with.

Light It Up Blue

April is Autism Awareness month so on the first two days of the month Autism Speaks asks everyone to "Light It Up Blue" to raise awareness.  Below are a few items I've made to show my support.  We have been blessed with the ability to see what a difference it can make if children receive the support and resources they need early.

These are small votive candles to shine the "blue" light.

A clothes pin picture holder that I created for a friend.

This is a tee shirt that I made to wear today.

Snow....again....

Since we got more snow today I figured I would go ahead and post pictures of this set of cards that I never got done as a gift for the holidays.  I guess I at least have an early start for next year!

Sending Love

These are some cute little candy mailboxes that I made for Valentine's Day.  Everyone just loved them and they really were pretty easy to make.

Power Up for a Mario Valentine's Day

So I figured this might be a good place to start posting things to see if this is something I can do and and keep up with.  I thought I was planning ahead for Valentine's Day but before I knew it, I was behind and scrambling to get things done.  The boys are all about Mario Bros. right now so that is what they wanted for as their theme.  Here is what I came up with.

I created all these using Make the Cut.  I've been using the software to cut with my Cricut for months now but  just realized that I can print and cut great little things like this!

Where to begin.....

So the holidays are over and I have half finished projects scattered everywhere.....so where do I begin to put some sanity back into my life so I can be productive.  I so wanted to figure out more about blogging since I've really enjoyed what others have shared and thought it would be great to share some projects as well.  So maybe I should begin by finishing off some of my holiday projects which I guess I can use as gifts next year and then try to figure out how to actually use this blog.  Any ideas and/or suggestions are always welcome!
